Dr. Joshua Merritt, Senior Vice President of Technical Operations at Myrtelle, joined the company in 2024 bringing more than 20 years of experience in biologics process development, manufacturing and drug product development. Josh earned his PhD from the University of Delaware, his MS from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and his BS from Tufts University all in chemical engineering. Since completing his PhD, Josh has taken on roles of increasing responsibility as an individual contributor, a team leader and a cross- functional team member at the National Institutes of Health (NIAID), Genzyme (Sanofi), MassBiologics, Pfizer, CRISPR Therapeutics, Carbon Biosciences and now, Myrtelle. During this time, Josh has led process and product development teams which have advanced over twenty different biologic molecules along the drug development and approval pathway including two commercial products. Over the past ten years, Josh has developed a particular interest and expertise in the development of complex biologics (i.e. gene and cell therapies) and their ability to positively impact patients without other treatment options. In his spare time, Josh enjoys travel, hiking and is an enthusiastic amateur furniture builder.
